Hi, I am Fiona, the maker of everything you see here.  I created Ashculme Textiles alongside my mother in 2016. We live in the beautiful Riverina region of NSW where we run a small herd of gorgeous Suri Alpacas.

Less common than the Huacaya, Suris have a fleece that is silky soft, hanging down from their bodies in lustrous dreadlocks.

Processing the alpaca fleece into a fine yarn and weaving it together with Australian Merino, gives the best of both worlds, the softness of alpaca and the versatility of merino.

We dye the yarn using both natural dyes and local flora. By using the leaves from the local eucalypts, the subtle colours reflect this environment we call home. Each eucalypt dyed piece is imbued with the essence of the bush. We only use dyes that are sustainable and colourfast.
