This ladies poncho is handwoven with a pure alpaca weft on an organic merino warp (the warp being the threads tensioned on the loom). The un dyed grey alpaca is fine and light and was grown by Prince, the male in our herd of suri alpacas. It is processed locally in NSW. The handwoven details along the length of the poncho are a fine pure wool.
Ponchos are warm, easy to wear and so versatile. Throw it on and head out the door, the alpaca fibre is perfect for keeping cooler temperatures at bay. This is a lightweight weave and would be perfect on those autumn days or summer evenings when there is a cool breeze in the air.
Our small herd of suri alpacas live here on our farm and I can watch them grazing contentedly from the window while I weave. Supplementary fibre comes from nearby farms, making our slow fashion products truely sustainable and ethical.
There may or may not be a shawl pin shown with this poncho. Please note it is not included. They are made by a local ceramic artist Angela McCann. Please feel free to contact me regards current ones available as they do sell very quickly.
Alpaca fibre is resilient and this poncho will keep its shape and softness for years.
Should you need to wash it, do so by hand only, squeezing out excess water by folding it in a towel and pressing down. Do not wring. Not to be tumble dried. Iron with a cool iron, protecting it with a cotton or linen tea towel
