The softest Suri Alpaca & Lace Wool makes this Bolero delicate & comfortable against the skin

A soft, light, yet warm bolero, perfect to keep the evening chill off the shoulders and add elegance to your outfit.
I have woven this oh-so-soft bolero on my Saori floor loom, using the un dyed yarn from our suri alpacas alongside some very soft and fine deep purple wool. The warp (those threads that are tensioned on the loom and make up the tassels at the hemline) is a very fine organic merino. Once off the loom I have crocheted all around, lightly catching the side seams to hold it gently together. At the hem of the front are two beautiful shell buttons from my mother’s treasured button box, holding the fold of the collar in place.
shoulder to hem – 41cm (16in)
width across shoulder to neckline – 20cm (8in)
full width – 45cm (17.5in)
Tassels – 8cm (3in)
Suri is the softest of alpaca fibres. it’s a little heavier than wool and will drape elegantly around the body
Pure alpaca, a mix of both Huacaya and Suri breeds, makes this top incredibly soft and warm. Our alpaca products are truely sustainable with all fibre coming from either our own herd or those of a neighbouring farm. We clean the fleece of vegetable matter and select the best of the locks. Due to the fragile nature of the fibre we then send it to a local small scale mill, just a couple hundred kilometres away. Once they have cleaned, carded and spun it into the fine yarn, it is returned to us. We then weave this luxurious yarn as is, in its natural colour, or we gently dye it ourselves, using either natural or gentle non toxic dyes.
Alpaca fibre is resilient and will keep its shape and softness for years. Should you need to wash it, do so by hand only, squeezing out excess water by folding it in a towel and pressing down. Do not wring. Dry laid out flat. Not to be tumble dried. Iron with a cool iron, protecting it with a cotton or linen tea towel.
