This Poncho is oh so warm and cosy, perfect to throw on when you are heading out into the winter chill. You can dress it up or down, with jeans and boots or leggings and loafers. Ponchos make versatile and comfortable maternity wear. Many new mothers choose to wear a poncho both for the warmth and protection it provides while you carry your baby on your chest, but also for comfort, simplicity and privacy while nursing.
The Molly Poncho is extra versatile as it can lay flat, doubling up as a throw over a bed or lounge, or a blanket or pillow for travelling. It is handwoven with a combination of ever changing yarns of alpaca, wool and mohair. It is hemstitched at either end and crocheted with alpaca around the neck for comfort and softness. Each step is done entirely by hand.
Suri is the softest of alpaca fibres. it’s a little warmer than wool and will drape elegantly around the body
Pure alpaca, a mix of both Huacaya and Suri breeds, makes this jacket incredibly soft and warm. Our alpaca products are truely sustainable with all fibre coming from either our own herd or those of a neighbouring farm. We clean the fleece of vegetable matter and select the best of the locks. Due to the fragile nature of the fibre we then send it to a local small scale mill, just a couple hundred kilometres away. Once they have cleaned, carded and spun it into the fine yarn, it is returned to us. We then weave this luxurious yarn as is, in its natural colour, or we gently dye it ourselves, using either natural or gentle non toxic dyes.
Alpaca fibre is resilient and will keep its shape and softness for years.
