I have woven this poncho on my floor loom using a fine organic black wool warp. The weft (those are the threads we weave in and out of the warp) is pure alpaca grown by some of our beautiful suri alpacas. After shearing, the fleece goes to a nearby rare fibre mill that processes it into a fine yarn. I then hand dye the yarn, ready for weaving.
Ponchos are warm, easy to wear and so versatile. Throw it on, and head out the door. Or take an extra moment to line up the joining seam, just forward of your arm and shoulder. For some more elegance, turn it a little, with the seam now down your centre back, roll the neckline over a couple of times, pair with some smart jeans and a long necklace. This is a shorter poncho which also looks stunning with the central seam at the front rather than the back. There are endless ways to wear a poncho and the ultimate style is completely up to you.
Ponchos make versatile and comfortable maternity wear. And many new mothers also choose to wear a poncho both for the warmth and protection it provides while you carry your baby on your chest, but also for comfort, simplicity and privacy while nursing.
