Dragonfly Ponchos
Orders for this poncho are welcomed. Choose your own colours.
Stand out from the crowd with a burst of colour and texture meandering along the hem of this poncho. Handwoven and hand hemmed in Australian Merino & locally grown alpaca, these ponchos are not only light in weight, but warm and soft as well.
At Ashculme Textiles we walk gently on this precious earth. I hand weave each piece at my studio in rural NSW, using the yarn from our small herd of Suri Alpacas. The process is mostly here on the farm - after shearing, we clean the fleeces before sending them to a local mill where small batches are washed, carded & spun. I use natural dyes working with rain water that flows directly from the tank and on into the garden after use. In my weaving the designs come as I weave, allowing my fingers to instinctively create as they work.
Our small herd of suri alpacas live here on our farm and I watch them grazing contentedly from the window while I weave. The merino is Australian grown and processed, making our slow fashion products truly sustainable and ethical.
Alpaca fibre is resilient and this piece will keep its shape and softness for years.
Should you need to wash it, warm water, a ph neutral soap and minimal agitation is all it needs. Not to be tumble dried. If you wish, you can iron with a cool iron, protecting it with a tea towel.
Maternity and breastfeeding friendly.
Approximate Measurements
Front Neck to lowest centre front point – 72cm
The width – (length across fringe line) – 60cm
Seam along shoulder and arm – 35cm
The neck opening measures 60cm
One size fits most.
